Since February 1st 2004, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) administers the regulatory framework governing Quebec’s financial sector, more specifically in the areas of insurance, securities, deposit institutions (other than banks) and the distribution of financial products and services. Since its creation, the AMF has centralized the legislative activities taking place within the Quebec financial sectors by taking over the formerly independent regulatory bodies:

  • Le Bureau des services financiers (BSF)
  • La Commission des valeurs mobilières du Québec (CVMQ)
  • Le Fonds d’indemnisation des services financiers (FISF)
  • L’Inspecteur général des institutions financières (IGIF)
  • La Régie de l’assurance-dépôts du Québec (RADQ)
