The Recognition of Workplace Skills form (presently available only in French) must be completed to get years of experience recognized by the AMF.

The first session offered in French is scheduled to begin in early March 2008. To reserve your place please contact us. Sessions in English begin mid February 2008.

The first session will begin in Summer 2008 and be offered in English only. It will be the first program offered in English in Quebec.

The program consists of 3 courses:

• Preparing a group annuity proposal adapted to the needs of an individual client, an organization or an enterprise. (02-307)

• Applying taxation concepts to professional practice - Group annuity plans (02-204)
• Applying the legal concepts and legislation pertaining to group annuity plans and to the activity of a representative in group annuity plans (02-107)*

The Group Annuity Certification Program will be offered in intensive format: Each course will consist of only 18 hours spread over 3 days. This important charateristic allows busy Industry Professionals the opportunity to service their existing clients while completing their Certification.

* Course 02-107 is also offered as part of our Group Insurance Certification Program.

So what exactly is a PDU? In simple terms, 1 PDU corresponds to one hour of professional development training.

Group Insurance Advisors operating in Quebec are required to complete a minimum level of professional training over a two year span in order to maintian their license to sell group insurance.

Effective November 30th 2006, the CSF has modified the structure of the ongoing professional development process. In the past, an accredited advisor was required to accumulate:

• 30 general PDUs (any topics related to the insurance profession)
• 10 PDUs in each discipline for which they are accredited

Now, an advisor needs:

• 10 general PDUs
• 10 PDUs in each discipline for which they are accredited
• A new category of PDUs was introduced in line with the Chambre’s new theme We only have one option: Competence. Advisors are therefore required to obtain 10 PDUs in compliance.

Furthermore, the professional development period has been modified and now runs from December 1st to November 30th (2 year periods). Extensions for late PDUs are no longer permitted. The first full cycle will run from December 1st 2007 to November 30th 2009.

In the interim: Since these new requirements were introduced half way through the current professional development period, transitionary training requirements have been introduced. More specifically, an advisor must complete 15 general PDUs, 10 PDUs for each discipline in which they are accredited and only 5 PDUs in compliance.

As of January 1st 2008, 360 Degrees of Group Insurance will be an integral part of our Certification program which helps prepare students for the Authorité des marchés financiers’ group insurance certification exam.
